In light of the Paris Hilton’s of the world, I find Ivanka Trump very impressive. She appears very articulate, grounded and educated, all of which cannot be said for Paris. And with Ivanka’s father’s tacky over-the-top taste, I was very curious to see what her upper east side apartment in New York City looked like when it was profiled in Elle Decor.
Understated
Posh
Funky
Modern
Serene
Tasteful
Although it looks completely accessible, make no mistake that it is very expensive with many of the pieces designed by Kelly behun, the interior designer for this apartment, and custom made. That being said, her look can be emulated for a lot less…and with a gallon some lacquer.
I would love to DIY her round foyer table, but I don’t have a place for it (but it’s so interesting), so maybe I could do a bedside table (or two) for one of girls… it may go on my “To Do” list, although I have bigger fish to fry at this point, like finishing our foyer and putting up some crown molding 🙂 I hope you all have a great weekend!

Some nice modern features and surprisingly conservative. All in all I really like the place, just looks nice and easy to live with.

She’s always seemed like she wasn’t interested in fame. It’s very tastefully done and has a lived in feel, unlike most celebrity home articles.

wonderful to see simplicity instead of over the top flamboyance – a real eye opener to the character of the owner!

I’m not huge into modern but those are just beautiful and liveable with just the right amount of whimsy. I like the entry table too – that’d make a neat coffee table – and the spotty ceiling in the white room

anyone know who the blue curved sculpture is by in the 5th photo, FUNKY? is it Wouter Dam?

That’s a great question! Elle Decor did not say who the artist is, but I have contacted the designer to see if I can find out for you 🙂

The sculpture is by Merete Rasmussen, a Danish ceramic artist based in London http://www.mereterasmussen.com...

What a beautiful home. I love the eclectic details. You’re right: hard to imagine she’s related to The Donald.

I know! He’s so garish and this is so tastefully done!

I guess we can go either way: be *exactly* like our parents, or 180 degrees in the other direction. 😉

Wow, a very modern, clean and funky apartment. I’m also impressed with Ivanka, all things considered. She lives in a gorgeous space!

If she has a designer for this, they have a beautiful eye for making things look comfortable where they need to be and productive or eye-catching when they need to be. Love it!
