My older brother, the City Mouse, and his wife had a baby two months ago, which they yearned for – they had been trying for many, many years …with many, many bumps along the way 😦 So it was truly glorious that this pregnancy went to term. In addition to some presents, I wanted them to have something from me that wasn’t bought or manufactured, so I set out to make a “baby sleeping” sign for the nursery door knob.

This is the front…

And the back (still very much in progress), which says “I am sleeping” in French, Traditional Chinese, German and Spanish.

(It’s never too early for teaching moments!)

With the children home and glued to my side 24/7, I haven’t been able to finish the door hanger, but once I do, I will post detailed instructions with pictures.

And, now getting it finished and mailed isn’t as big of a rush. Not to be a “Debbie Downer” (although saying it doesn’t really make me less of one does it?), but… my poor brother, unfortunately lives in the Financial District (downtown Manhattan) of New York City and has been without power since Hurricane Sandy hit. UGH! He’s taking it in stride – what else can you do – but I feel just awful!

I’m still cleaning up from the hurricane too, which is a welcome diversion – the downed branches and trees that are on the outside, but worse, the devastation that our little ones caused inside from being home from school for so many days … those Tasmanian devils really did a number in the basement! But we were the lucky ones :-/
