A Detailed House, Celebrity Kitchens, Cher, David Furnish, Diane Keaton, Elton, Elton John, Gerard Butler, Hank Azaria, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lance armstrong, Metro Areas, Neil Patrick Harris, New York, New York City, Stephen Shadley
Thank you for participating! Difficult, wasn’t it?? I could have selected names randomly and scored better than if I had tried to take the poll!!
Cher‘s disguised kitchen. I thought her kitchen would be somehow grander – I really like the fact that it’s not.
Hank Azaria‘s kitchen.
Lady Gaga! Seriously?!?!? Located in Bel Air, California. Her costumes and clothing would lead me to believe that her personal space would reflect that style as well.
Gerard Butler‘s kitchen…in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood!?!?!
Elton John and David Furnish’s LA condo. I thought Elton’s kitchen would be huge and, to be sneaky, I had to throw this one in as bait for Lady Gaga 😉
Neil Patrick Harris in a very normal, suburban neighborhood in Studio City, California.
Someone is NOT afraid of color and patterns! And that someone is Diane Keaton (and her designer, Stephen Shadley). Diane Keaton…really??? She flips houses often, so gets to live in many different kitchens and “try on” different styles with her houses.
I hope you enjoyed the game 🙂
I think I got Elton John’s and Diane Keaton’s correct! great quiz
I was so sure that last one was Lady Gaga
Those kitchens are amazing! Thanks for liking my post. I’m following you now!
think I got two right lol
I was actually surprised to get about half right… but Lady Gaga, Elton John, and Katy Perry through me completely off! Great quiz!
I loved this game. I got two right– Elton John & Katy Perry. For me the biggest surprise is Diane Keaton. Wowsa, that is one bright, bold kitchen. Thanks for doing this.
I love that quote on Diane Keaton’s wall….I’ve always heard it as “home is where, when you go there, they have to take you in”…..and I incorporated that into a song I wrote a few months ago, because, it’s true.
Love the kitchens and am amazed that some look so normal and understated! Not sure what I’d design if I had unlimited funds, but I’d sure try!
I love Cher, and her kitchen too… but that is the LAST design I would have predicted! Where are the kitchen-equivalent of sequins/rhinestones/disco balls/crazy see-through outfits??
I don’t think I got any of them right . . .
Wow, those are neat! Cher’s kitchen is really cool, but it doesn’t seem very functional! Cheers!
I got Cher’s right but only because you made a comment about how unsuspecting it was. I think I also got Elton John’s, but I thought for sure Gaga’s was the last one.
I didn’t play, but I LOVE Cher’s kitchen.
Diane Keaton really threw me.
Very fun! Thanks for posting!
Not crazy about Gerard Butler’s kitchen but I’m liking that distressed black island… and yes, still in search of the perfect island so I can move on with the kitchen floor. Now I’ve got 2 options bouncing around in my head – thank you.
I have an enormous file on kitchens and can do a post of kitchen islands if it will help and if so, what style, look (I think you had said part table, part cabinet) and functionality. You have an island now….were you looking to demo it and start from scratch, build and improve what you have, buy something new, etc?
I’ve got a 6′ island which is just a big long box, nothing interesting at all so that will go. All the cabinets are honey oak & it’s just too much of the same thing. I’d like to not do matchy matchy so was thinking of a black island. I hate to get rid of all the space though but I’d like to be able to sit down if I’m working there or have someone sit which was why I liked part table w/maybe 2 sections of cabinet (I have 4 sections now). Originally I was going to go w/a table like in the Restorations catalog. Then I really liked (still do) the one you had that was a white island …it had beadboard on the side & was half table. That one still seems to be my favorite although would go w/black & no beadboard. Then I saw this one in your last post & thought, hey that’s kinda neat too. I have a very long kitchen so can’t go w/more than a standard 24-26″ deep island. Thing is the kitchen tile can’t go down until I’ve got the island picked out – especially if I go with table legs. Plus I want to keep 1 outlet in the island so all that has to be in place b4 the tile. I’m frustrated because I’ve gone to Lowe’s & the guy there kept steering me to this ultra modern look- which I’m not. We’ve got a standard colonial w/oak cabinets. It’s frustrating but I would love to see what ideas you have – you’ve got quite the eye for these things. Thanks so much, really appreciate it.
This will be fun to think about! I love kitchens and I think I can envision what you are after 🙂 It may take me a little bit to put a post together because I will want to drill down on the specific type of island you are looking for.
And how annoying with the Lowes guy?!? I don’t like it when I shop, knowing what I’m looking for, only to have people impose their taste on me!
Oh you are wonderful! Thank you so much. I was getting annoyed w/the Lowe’s guy & I’m going up to one of those small kitchen places this weekend. Plus my Lowe’s buddy was going to get back to me w/a quote “no later than Tues” – that was 5 wks ago & I’m not crazy about chasing people who should want my business. Now what do you think about this-the part that would be table – I was thinking of a shelf where I could put small appliances but the guy was saying it was a bad idea because people would be putting their feet on it, etc… Oh & here’s my blog picture of the current island to give you an idea of what’s there now : http://dianeskitchentable.wordpress.com/tag/kitchen-remodeling/ – boring right?
OMG – I just looked at the picture and saw Lola!!! How adorable!!!!!
I thought about your island all last night and this morning (and will probably continue to think about it for a while)! I love the part island, part table – don’t listen to the Lowes’ guy! People could possibly use the shelves as ottomans, so you should compromise on your aesthetic?!? My experience with big stores is that they do very pedestrian designs, so you have to come up with what you want and dictate it.
There are several ways to get what you want:
-we could find a piece of furniture, like a credenza, and then put a table top on it and add the legs, shelves and work in the outlet.
-a farm table and retro fit cabinets underneath with an outlet.
-kitchen cabinets and shelves and build from there with legs, which is a very easy add.
I can show you some amazing legs that you can buy as well 🙂
Thank you – Lola is my constant companion (and the reason for the new floor although I never liked that floor to begin with so she did me a favor by eating it).
I agree completely with having to have an exact design in mind before going into these places because they just steer you to what they like. You are marvelous to help me with this & I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. Based on your posts, you always seem to pick up on the same things I love. And believe me, I’ve got time… this project’s been sitting dead in the water for a while.
Still looking… Just had a few in my files and, from searching, good ones for inspiration are few and far between, so it’ll take a little more time than I thought! But I’ll get there and you will have pictures for inspiration to get that kitchen how you want it 🙂
Oh believe me I understand. I’ve been doing searches all over the place & if I had a big square kitchen I could pick out at least a dozen that I love. Problem is the depth. But please, I do appreciate all your help and love your expertise.
That was fun!
Enjoying your blog a lot!
Diane Keaton – crazy! I would have kind of expected it from her.
I have an even BIGGER crush on Gerard Butler now that I LOVE his kitchen. the crystal chandeleir with rustic wood is my favorite and Diane Keaton 2nd. Except my family says that if you have to knock, you must be a stranger because family just walks in. great post
What an awesome saying!!! I love it!!! I might have to start using that 😀 Hope you had a good 4th with your little ones!! Kearney
