Natural materials, which I adore, are very prevalent in design, so I thought I’d show you some bathtub made from a single rock that range from formal and carved to untouched and natural-looking. It probably goes without saying, but because of the materials’ durability – and with proper care – they can be used outside as well.

Marble by Amlink. Prices for these tubs are around $2,700.

This modern looking tub looks like it was made out of wood, but it is actually made out of onyx by Carved Stone Creations.
Bathtubs by Stone Forest are created of travertine, onyx, granite or marble, depending on your choice of color and style.
Carved from a huge boulder, they can be given any kind of look, from rough to smooth surface depending on your preference. (River Rock Bathtub)

Different color variations for stone tubs are based upon materials.
Finally, something ridiculously expensive:
A part of a huge rock crystal that was excavated was hollowed out and shaped with diamond cutters by the Italian company Baldi, who have sold two. One to a Russian magnate for $858,763 (700,000 Euros) and the second to Harrods for a window display at the price of $790,310. Seriously?!?!?
These huge crystal rocks, while pretty, are excavated from the Amazonian rainforests! So, Harrods and this Russian magnate just funded and encouraged that kind of damage!! I don’t care how pretty they are, I could never, ever support that and could come up with options just as pretty – or prettier – without causing damage to the environment and displacing, endangering and killing animals. Sorry for ending on a downer, but I thought it was better to tell the background!!
Anyway….I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July 😀

I do love the crystal one I have to admit if I ever win the lottery I will be tempted just imagine the crystal healing you could get lying in one of those
The one that looks like wood is my favorite, but those are very cool. Yea, I’m with you. Boo on the “I’m rich, so I can destroy the rainforest.” Bleh.
I couldnt believe it was stone! So pretty! Yes, such a sense of entitlement – they better be donating some *serious* cash to charities if they spend that kind of money on a tub!
I had a chance to stay in a fancy hotel that had a marble one. As much as it was stunning, and very inviting. I could not get out of the bath!
Ooohh!! I’ve never stepped in one before …. How sumptuous!!!
It was, but I literally couldn’t get out, lol. Marble is so slippery that trying to step out is a hazard. It took me an hour to wiggle out, and I still had massive bruises on one side!
What beautiful bathtubs!
I love the beautiful bathtubs, but for some reason my brain kicks in the negative on these bathtubs too (I will refrain from sharing those thoughts though). Have a Great Day!

Have never seen these before…very cool – thanks!
Money is very good, money enough to buy that crystal or rock crystal tub might be too much money for one person to have. Although I think the rock crystal is my favorite next to the onyx.
I agree…I just *loved* the rock crystal, which is why I researched it. There are rock crystal mines in the US, which huge rocks can be procured. Baldi said the price was because of the manufacturing process and the hours of labor.
Thanks for showing us such beautiful and unusual items. I love to see unusual pieces.
The onyx one reminds me of the alabaster canopic jars found in an Egypt dig.
Of all of them I like the white marble but after hearing how hard it is to get out of them think I will stick with what I have.
I knew about the marble and onyx baths, but the crystal one is “out of this world” utterly fabulous!! sad to hear it was taken from the rainforest, bad enough the trees, but then to dig great holes in the ground looking for rock crystal… rock crystal used to be found in Russia… Unfortunately, people who pay that money for a bathtub saving the rainforest is the last thing on their minds….
Great Post! thanks for sharing!
The stone ones are just beautiful!
I feel better now. I was just wondering where in my humble abode the crystal miracle would fit (after I’d robbed the bank) and you went and saved me from myself with your moral scruples. Good for you!
Love, love, love that onyx tub! Beautiful!
Very impressive. The Onyx was the surprise. The crystal ones were the disappointment. Environment wise.
The first few look a little too much like for crypts for me to want to get in one of them I’m afraid. Love the wood looking one but really, the crystal – wow! I think the first one is so “wow” because of the setting & view. If I had that view I’m not sure I’d ever get out of the tub.
Wow, I want that crystal one!
I like the one that looks like wood too. Need to design the house around that tub though – I’ll need those lottery winnings too … Bob http://team1million.wordpress.com
I love these tubs so different and ornate like I love. Great post
Cynthia
Wow! I could live in, uh, er, I mean, bathe in any of those!
Inspiring images. Really love the carved onyx that looks like wood by Carved Stone Creations
The ‘wood’ one… OMG!!! Love it!!!
All I can say is wow!
I love onyx, even though is an expensive stone, when lit from underneath becomes even more gorgeous and all the minute details become very visible.
does anyone make acrylic versions of the hewn rock ones???
Huh! I don’t know off the top of my head, but I sure hope so! Let me see if I can find anything…
