I have been planning this house project for a long time, so I was VERY excited to start on it. However, we had my friend over one night, a girls’ sleep over and a school project to finish up for Monday. Come on people! Don’t you see I have some materials here that I am dying to put up!
So, of course it didn’t get finished….sigh. But aren’t you a little curious as to what has my britches in a bunch?
It started outside with these tools – Ok, maybe I didn’t focus exactly on the tools, but how cute is that face 😉
Roman Corinthian cap and base…but they didn’t stay like this for long!
Puppy on the other side…
Split in half for pilasters….
Once the project is done, if you all are interested I will post directions on how to do them too. This is not a hard project (surprisingly).
This has quite a way to go because the header isn’t even up. There’s always next weekend. Did I mention the children get out school this week? I guess I can always give them a paint brush and have them paint before we put things up 😉
I’m amazed that you were able to split it perfectly down the center! It looks great!
Hahaha kids and paint brushes. Should be interesting lol
In the past, it didn’t work out so well for the dogs!! Haha! My sweet, white Jack Russell had quite a bit of green painted on her back! I’m hoping this summer, it works out a little better!
wow! u r so cool!!
Aww! You always give me the BEST encouragement!
🙂
that’s great! can’t wait to see the final product!
Thank you! Let’s hope it turns out as good in real life as it is in my head 😉
Great idea!
Thanks!!
Kids out from school I can see the potential for lots of things. Projects, chaos, upgrades, entropy all the good things in life!
That’s so spot on! The “entropy” made me laugh out loud, literally! Lord of the Flies was flashing through my head 😉
It looks awesome!
I love the use of the columns to frame the doorway inside. It gives the space a ton of character. I’m waiting patiently to see the end result.
Wow! What a project. Isn’t’ it comical how the dog always ends up where you want to do your work?
So TRUE!!! This one is the better of all the dogs about it 🙂 My “velcro” dog I can’t even take out with me when I weed, because she will sit in front of me…on the weeds!
WOW! I can’t wait to see the finished project! 🙂
What a great idea. Your house looks so beautiful!
Look at you go! That’s great. I wish I had your confidence with power tools. Great idea and wonderful execution.
Oh, I’m just the mastermind – the only power tool I use is my husband 😉
LOL! Well hurray for the team effort. My husband mans the power tools around here, I’m up on the sewing machine. It works.
Love this! My life also gets in the way of my projects but I wouldn’t have it any other way and, I suspect, neither would you! 🙂
If you would care to pop over to http://paulaacton.wordpress.com/2012/06/05/triple-whammy/ you will find an award waiting for you formal attire is optional and the goodie bags are in the post somewhere between here and god knows where and should arrive a week after their expiry date
What to wear, wear to wear 😉 Thank you SO much – I’m very flattered!!!
Ha, I know what you mean! You can have have things so planned out that you can’t imagine them not smoothly falling into place. But, then . . . Ugh, stuff just happens. Most of the time I roll with it ( what else can you do?) – You dog is very cute! Gotta love the long face and cold wet nose. Looking forward to seeing progression. Have fun!
Awww!! Thank you for commenting on my puppy!! I just love her so!
When my kids were small I always said everything I did was only 80% completed! We’ll be buying a new house within the next year when we move back to the States so you’re blog will be very helpful!
that is stunning. and your doggie, too lovely 🙂
Thank you!!
“The only power tool I use is my husband.” – Made me laugh out loud. I have one of those too; I don’t know how anyone manages without one.
How are you planning to cap the doorway? Molding? I’ll be curious how you run trim into the sides of the pillar-tops. Looks fantastic already—end result will be grand!
Good question! On top of the doorway I’m putting an 11″ high frieze that I coped out the sides to fit into the sides of the caps. Then on top, I’ll put a header 🙂
Ugh -if I didn’t have the husband tool, I don’t know what I’d do! I’d be fine with the boyfriend tool, but I definitely don’t want the hired tool 😉
Your photos are always amazing but the great looking dog really caught my eye!
Thank you!! She is such a sweetie – and a distraction, because I will look up from working and there is that sweet, adorable face that I just can’t resist! Believe it or not, she was a rescue dog – who would give her up?!?
Love the puppy-face! Quite a project you’ve got there
Your dog is so cute! And good job of course!
Thank you!! I just couldn’t resist adding pictures of her 😀
great tip on the corithian columns. Further love your dog, we used to have an all black shepherd, we miss her.
Awww…I’m so sorry for your loss 😦 I have a mostly black German shepherd too! There’s a picture of him on my ‘About Me’ page. Maybe you can get another dog soon?
You’ve been nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award! (http://cereusart.com/2012/06/07/one-lovely-blog-award/)
Thank you so very much!!
