Ragmag described Kris Kuksi’s art as “mind-blowing, macabre, and beautifully grotesque art…[that] will taunt you by the sheer complexity of detail, leaving you even more baffled as you stare for hours at all the figurines that were smacked into coexistence.” An American artist, who grew up in Kansas, Kuksi’s “Fantastic Realism” genre is intriguing, Baroque in influence, steampunk, hedonistic … and fascinating.
How’s that for a door header??
So sweet..until you look closely.
Although many pieces at first blush seem innocent enough, a closer look reveals the dark underbelly of death and destruction.
His art has been exhibited worldwide, been sold at Sotheby’s and is owned by a wide audience, including Robin Williams, Fred Durst, Nike CEO Mark Parker and Director Chris Weitz (Twilight: New Moon, The Golden Compass).

Awesome art, but when you posed the question, although I knew it to be rhetorical, “How’s that for a door header??” my very first thought was, “My God, the dusting.” I have now, officially, become my mother! 🙂
Hahaha!!! Sad though, the dusting never crossed my mind….and all those crevices! Dusting would be a nightmare!!
I was wondering if you were being tempted to have some of this kind of art for a door header too …and I’d be thinking my God, the dusting as well. ha!

Two things. I have a terrible urge to run to the dollar store for toys and yes the same dusting issue as Life and Ink. I used to get aggravated because my mom never wanted things because of the dusting. Now I more than understand. With two dogs and a cat in a very small house I am overwhelmed by the dusting and vaccuming. But the idea of the door header is so cool! But nothing mean or gruesome!!

This is just amazing and you are right, one could spend hours staring at it. I like the comment one reader made about Narnia and the Snow Queen. This art really feels like it came out of the Wardrobe without permission! Amazing!
